Game 1 Recap
Game 1 at Lyndonville:
''We had too many mental mistakes,'' said coach
Brendan Carter after the Jamestown Chiefs opened with
a 27-0 loss to the Lyndonville Tigers on a rainy Saturday
night.
Four times the Chiefs were stopped in the red zone,
including one at the goal line.
Mike Bond scored three touchdowns with two on passes
of 60 and 15 yards and one on a 1-yard run for the
tigers. Haynes ran 11 yards for the other touchdown.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers scored 14 in
the second quarter and added a touchdown in the third
and fourth quarters.
James Dickey rushed for 108 yards on 19 carries and
Shawn Fink was 7-of -21 for 80 yards passing for the
Chiefs. Ricky Gonzalez ran back four kicks for 127 yards
and a punt return for 44 yards.
Also for the Chiefs, Chad Slade made seven tackles and
Matt Lindstrom had 4 tackles and two sacks to lead the
Chiefs defensively.
''We played well considering it was our first game. The
Lyndonville owner came over and congratulated the
team as he expected his team to be up by four or five
touchdowns at halftime,'' said Carter.
The Chiefs play at Olean's Bradner Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday against the Southern Tier Diesel.
